The reflection of the lotus as it emerges from muddy waters is from Aamina's 'Light Upon Light' collection from the 'Let there be Light' (2018) exhibition curated by Chandrika Maelge, where each of the images are a symbol of renewal and optimism.

Aamina Nizar is a photographer and artist based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. She collaborates with fellow artists and researchers to broaden perspectives on themes she is exploring. These include her work in ‘Let there be Light’ (2018), ‘Closing Chapters’ (2022) and ‘Brilliant Resilient’ (2022). She was awarded a Visiting Artist Fellowship for her work on 'The Colombo Project,' by the Lakshmi Mittal South Asia Institute, Harvard University (2022). She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Media (Journalism) from Sophia College, Mumbai, India.
